Job summary

LAB is seeking an experienced Air Conditioning Installation Engineer to deliver high-quality commercial installations across VRF/VRV and split systems. You will handle commissioning, handover, and on-site coordination with Projects Team and clients.

Essentially, you will read technical drawings, fault-find on systems, and ensure safe, compliant installations with good communication and independent on-site work ethic.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on experience installing commercial air conditioning systems, particularly VRF/VRV and split systems.
• Minimum NVQ Level 2 qualification in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration.
• Current F-Gas certification and EN 378 knowledge.
• Experience reading, interpreting and working from drawings, schematics and system documentation.

Responsibilities

• Install a wide range of commercial air conditioning systems (VRF/VRV and split).
• Commission large-scale VRF/VRV and split systems.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics; supervise electrical/control circuits.
• Coordinate and oversee on-site works to ensure safety, quality and timely delivery.
• Liaise with clients, site teams and contractors to ensure project delivery.
• Maintain high workmanship standards and compliance with health and safety procedures.

LAB is looking for an experienced and highly skilled Air Conditioning Installation Engineer to join an expanding engineering team.

They work with a diverse portfolio of blue-chip customers across the commercial, retail, healthcare, education and hospitality sectors, maintaining and supporting refrigeration and HVAC systems across a wide variety of sites and environments.

The Role

As an Air Conditioning Installation Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality commercial air conditioning installations, primarily across VRF/VRV and split systems, from site installation through to commissioning and handover.

• Installing a wide range of commercial air conditioning systems, including VRF/VRV and split systems.
• Working confidently with centralised controllers, control panels and associated electrical and control circuits.
• Commissioning large-scale VRF/VRV and split air conditioning systems.
• Reading, interpreting and working accurately from technical drawings, schematics and system documentation.
• Carrying out technical checks and fault finding where required, identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
• Coordinating and overseeing works on site to ensure installations are completed safely, efficiently and to the required Airflow standards.
• Working closely with our Projects Department and Company Directors to maintain excellent communication and successful project delivery.
• Liaising professionally with clients, site teams and other contractors where required.
• Maintaining a consistently high standard of workmanship and taking ownership of the quality of completed installations.
• Ensuring all work is carried out safely and professionally in accordance with company health & safety procedures and client‑specific site requirements.
• Supporting the wider engineering team and business where required.

About You

We are looking for an experienced, professional installation engineer who is confident in their technical ability and takes genuine pride in delivering first‑class workmanship.

• Significant hands‑on experience installing commercial air conditioning systems, particularly VRF/VRV and split systems.
• A minimum NVQ Level 2 qualification in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration.
• Current F‑Gas certification and knowledge of EN 378 requirements.
• Experience commissioning commercial air conditioning systems.
• Strong technical knowledge and the ability to read and understand drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Good electrical competence, including the ability to safely test and diagnose control circuits.
• Strong problem‑solving and fault‑finding capabilities.
• The confidence to work independently, take ownership of your responsibilities and make sound decisions on site.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with customers, project managers, colleagues and other contractors.
• A positive, practical and solution‑focused approach to challenges.
• Flexibility and a willingness to support the wider business when required.
• A full, valid UK driving licence.

Salary & Package

£45,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience

• 25 days annual leave, in addition to statutory bank holidays.
