Job summary

Alliants is seeking a DevOps Engineer in Southampton to design guardrails for AI-generated code in production. You will lead policy-as-code, secure environments, and scalable automation, partnering with Product Engineering to deliver reliable, auditable deployments.

You’ll work across AWS-based infrastructure, Terraform/OpenTofu, Docker, CI/CD, and incident response. Hybrid role requiring three in-office days weekly.

Qualifications

• Experience managing AWS environments (ECS Fargate, RDS).
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/OpenTofu).
• Containerisation with Docker and secure runtime config.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines with automated tests and rollback.
• Strong Linux, scripting and programming (Python/TypeScript/JavaScript).
• InfoSec practices, secrets management and secure systems.
• Experience supporting multiple environments under SLA.
• Experience using AI coding agents as the primary coding method.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain guardrails — policy-as-code and gated deployments.
• Build automated quality checks, including schema and migration safety.
• Deploy and optimise AWS infrastructure for products and clients.
• Create fast, parallel CI/CD pipelines with rollback to known-good.
• Instrument monitoring, dashboards and performance reporting.
• Apply information security standards and least-privilege access.
• Run incident response and root-cause analysis with preventive fixes.
• Assist in cloud cost optimisation and usage reporting.
• Support internal/client teams with hosting and environment queries.
