Job summary

Hyperexponential is building an AI‑first platform for insurance pricing and underwriting, and we’re hiring a Staff Platform Engineer to steer the technical direction of the Platform Team. You’ll define architecture, standards, and patterns that scale teams and empower autonomous AI‑enabled workflows.

You’ll collaborate with senior engineers, articulate trade‑offs, reduce platform bottlenecks, and embed security and reliability into every layer.

Qualifications

• Defined the architecture, standards, and patterns for the platform domain over a multi‑quarter horizon.
• Navigating disagreement across senior engineers, architects, and stakeholders to reach durable technical decisions.
• Accountability for outcomes that span multiple teams and that they do not personally deliver.
• Defined how AI and automation are embedded into the platform at an architectural level.
• Understanding of the adoption dynamics, internal customer needs, and the systemic barriers to self‑service.
• Identified architectural, security, and operational risks before they become incidents.
• Connecting platform decisions to business outcomes clearly and credibly, and presenting to senior leadership.
• Actively developing senior engineers through technical challenge and deliberate exposure to harder problems.

Responsibilities

• Establish a coherent 12–18 month technical direction for the platform with milestones and alignment.
• Ensure platform capabilities are adopted broadly by well‑designed, well‑documented components.
• Define architectural patterns enabling autonomous and AI‑augmented workflows across the organisation.
• Embed platform security, reliability, and operational excellence into development without gatekeeping.
• Mentor and elevate senior engineers, raising the overall capability of the team.
