Job summary

clea*rer.io in Leicester is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to guide several teams toward AI-native software delivery at scale. You will shape technical strategy, own distributed system roadmaps, and ensure quality and security standards are met across high-traffic products used by thousands of merchants.

You will lead hiring and develop leaders, balancing budget, resourcing, and AI tooling costs while driving cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering, including 4+ years in leadership roles.
• Experience scaling engineering organisations and landing new practices across multiple teams.
• Deep knowledge of large-scale system design, microservices and cloud-native architecture.
• Recent hands-on experience with AI development tooling and cost/quality tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow multiple engineering teams and their managers, building a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Set long-term technical strategy with the architecture team and senior leadership.
• Own roadmaps for complex, distributed, high-traffic systems with resilience and observability.
• Drive adoption of AI development standards and manage AI tooling spend.
• Manage cross-team dependencies and handoffs as agentic workflows evolve.
• Lead hiring, performance and leadership development for your teams.
• Ensure security and compliance, governing data access for AI tools and models.
