Job summary

Haven is seeking a Lead Engineer to join our Technology team, taking joint ownership of the direction and output of a delivery squad alongside a Product Manager and UX Designer. You’ll set the technical direction, define the architecture, and be the key technical contact for squad stakeholders and the wider business.

Qualifications

• Extensive software engineering experience in a similar environment.
• Proven Lead Engineer experience with team leadership.
• Strong AI-enabled software engineering knowledge, tooling, and workflows.
• Proficient in one of C#, Dart, or TypeScript and one of .Net, Flutter, React, or Node.js.
• Solid software design, testing practices, and architecture skills.
• Experience with Agile, Lean, OKRs, and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction and architecture for your squad.
• Define and evolve the squad backlog with product and design leads.
• Lead by example in designing and implementing high-quality solutions.
• Own the squad’s engineering practice and AI-enabled ways of working.
• Communicate progress, risks, and decisions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Coach, mentor, and support engineers’ development.
• Collaborate with other squads to drive continual improvement.
• Be the first point of contact for issues affecting delivery (tools, access, third parties).
• Contribute to Haven’s digital estate simplification.
• Continue developing your own software engineering capability.
