Job summary

Automation Consultants is seeking a full-stack engineer to join one of our product teams. You will work across front end, back end and cloud infrastructure of apps used by thousands of organisations daily. You will own features from conception to production with guidance from senior engineers.

You will apply AI coding assistants and agentic tools, write tests, and participate in frequent CI/CD releases. The role offers a hybrid work pattern in Reading with opportunities to grow your cloud skills.

Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science or another numerate subject is required (2:1 or above).
• At least a year of professional software development experience.
• Evidence of building things (side projects, open source, or personal tools).
• Practical experience building web applications (front end and back end).
• Daily, hands-on use of AI coding tools and evaluating their output.
• Confident with Git and GitHub-style PR workflows.
• Ability to write tests and ensure readable code.

Responsibilities

• Design and build features across the stack, end-to-end for smaller tasks.
• Use AI coding assistants and agentic tools as part of development process.
• Write unit and integration tests and participate in end-to-end testing.
• Find and fix bugs, including production-only issues.
• Provide and receive code reviews; maintain high quality through CI/CD.
• Work in AWS and Atlassian Forge environments and expand cloud skills.
• Help build AI-powered features into products as they are developed.
