Job summary

Zebra People is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead engineers building secure, scalable microservices on AWS with TypeScript and Node.js. The role blends people leadership with hands-on technical depth, guiding design discussions and fostering AI-enabled, responsible engineering practices.

You’ll collaborate with Product, Security, DevOps and other leaders to deliver roadmap commitments while maintaining high quality, performance, and team health.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in an agile product environment.
• Experience leading teams that build cloud-native microservices in AWS.
• Strong people leadership skills with coaching and accountability.
• Backend focus with Node.js, TypeScript, AWS, APIs, and production data stores (SQL/NoSQL).
• Experience with CI/CD, observability, incident support, and Docker-based workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support a team of engineers with clear priorities and growth goals.
• Partner with Product, Security, DevOps, and engineering leaders to plan and deliver roadmap commitments.
• Improve delivery environment by refining processes, planning, estimation, and engineering practices.
• Maintain technical depth to guide design discussions and review trade-offs for secure, maintainable systems.
• Encourage responsible AI-assisted ways of working and manage privacy, security, and quality considerations.
• Assist hiring, performance conversations, and career development to grow team capability.
