Job summary

Ocado Group in Hatfield is seeking an experienced Data Engineering Manager 2 for Central Data Products. You will help define the group BI strategy, lead a dedicated team, and own internal reporting tools and partner-facing data products such as OSP Insights.

This role drives the evolution from traditional BI to AI-assisted data access, aligning semantic architecture with business outcomes and delivering unified standards across the data platform.

Qualifications

• Proven experience defining organizational BI strategy and consolidating platforms.
• Strong end-to-end product management with data products for partners/customers.
• Practical understanding of agentic data access concepts and MCP architectures.
• Solid SQL and modern data warehousing knowledge (BigQuery).
• Experience with semantic layers and Looker as BI tool.
• Ability to translate analytics into value stories for leadership.
• Experience managing teams and delegating capability ownership.

Responsibilities

• Define the group-wide BI strategy and manage platform consolidation.
• Lead Looker and Celonis Centres of Excellence under a unified model.
• Roll out agentic analytics to enable self-serve access to certified data.
• Collaborate to migrate semantic layer to dbt MetricFlow.
• Establish evaluation frameworks, telemetry, and logging for AI accuracy and performance.
• Own product vision, roadmap, and delivery for the OSP Insights platform.
• Articulate business value of data products to non-technical stakeholders.
• Maintain an outcome-driven roadmap with prioritization standards.
• Partner with Partner Success to streamline onboarding and workflows.
• Build and mentor a high-performing team with AI literacy.
