Job summary

Ocado Group in Hatfield is seeking a Data Engineer to build and maintain the foundational data warehouse powering analytics, ML, and partner data products. You will transform raw data into trusted, governed datasets for strategic decision-making.

Working in an agile environment, you will design ELT/ETL pipelines, ensure data quality, and optimise the cloud data warehouse for efficient downstream delivery to enterprise users.

Qualifications

• Experience building ELT/ETL pipelines and dbt.
• Strong SQL and Python; solid programming fundamentals.
• Hands-on Git and CI/CD workflows.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain core data warehouse powering analytics, ML, and partner data products.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines across data solutions.
• Build dimensional and analytical data models for complex reporting needs.
• Develop and maintain reusable data transformation logic with engineering best practices.
• Implement automated data quality checks and pipeline monitoring.
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, product teams, and platform engineers to deliver secure datasets.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise pipeline performance.
• Participate in code reviews and improve engineering standards.
• Produce documentation and promote knowledge sharing.
