Job summary

Ocado Group in Hatfield is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Autoplanner team, operating in a hybrid model. You will design and maintain the data/ML platform, APIs, and pipelines that power production-grade AI and planning tools for global retail partners.

Collaborating with data scientists and engineers across Ocado Technology, you will deliver scalable, resilient systems, drive CI/CD improvements, and ensure robust integration with cloud platforms and BigQuery for reliable deployments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering focusing on production Python services.
• Strong experience with modern, strongly typed Python.
• Experience with data-intensive apps and event-driven architectures.
• Experience packaging, serving, and monitoring ML models in production.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the data and ML platform supporting live retailer environments.
• Package, version, serve, and monitor machine learning models in production.
• Build and maintain robust APIs and data contracts for internal teams.
• Enhance CI/CD and release pipelines for multi-environment deployments.
• Evolve the team’s mono-repo structure while delivering production services.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and record ADRs.
• Collaborate with data scientists to integrate applications with Ocado Smart Platform.
• Share on-call and production support for mission-critical planning tools.
