Job summary

Ocado Group is hiring a Data Engineer (Modelling & Transformation) for a hybrid role based in Hatfield. You will build and maintain the foundational data warehouse powering analytics, ML, and partner data products, transforming raw data into trusted datasets for decision-making.

You will design and optimise ELT/ETL pipelines, develop dimensional models, and implement data quality checks in an agile environment, collaborating with data scientists and product teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing ELT/ETL pipelines and dbt.
• Strong SQL skills and programming fundamentals in Python/SQL.
• Hands-on Git and CI/CD workflows.
• Degree in CS/DS/SE or equivalent practical experience.
• Solid understanding of data concepts, including storage, transformation, and governance.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the core data warehouse powering analytics, ML and partner data products.
• Design, develop and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines across enterprise data solutions.
• Build and optimise dimensional data models for complex reporting and analytics.
• Develop reusable data transformation logic using modern software engineering practices.
• Implement automated data quality checks, pipeline monitoring and testing frameworks.
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, product teams and platform engineers.
• Participate in code reviews and improve engineering standards.
• Produce documentation and share knowledge across the data engineering craft.
