Job summary

FGS Agri in Pluckley, Ashford, is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead a busy workshop team and ensure safe, efficient operation of our farm machinery and fleet. You will be hands-on, taking responsibility for maintenance, fault finding, and day‑to‑day running of the workshop in a supportive, family‑orientated setting.

The role requires strong mechanical experience, ability to prioritise, work under pressure and liaise with clients.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Agricultural Mechanic or LGV fitter.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Five years’ practical experience in a relevant mechanical environment.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance of a varied fleet including farm contracting equipment and HGV units.
• Carry out MOT preparations, servicing, fault finding and repairs.
• Welding, fabrication and machining work where required.
• Diagnose hydraulic and electrical issues.
• Procure parts and consumables for the workshop.
• Coordinate work allocation, job flow, scheduling and labour planning.
• Oversee inbound goods, stock checks, dispatching and receipting invoices.
• Provide hands-on support and respond flexibly to wider business needs.
• Act as a technical adviser on key projects and support other areas of the business.
