Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd. seeks a Software Systems Engineer to bridge systems engineering and software development for aerospace products. You will work on mission-critical tools supporting RAF aircraft and future GCAP programs, collaborating with software teams and external partners.

The role involves designing and integrating new functionality, conducting testing, and mentoring engineers. On-site in Luton with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Degree in science, maths or engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience delivering software-heavy systems, ideally in regulated industries.
• Experience with DevOps to deliver products.
• MBSE methodologies or modelling languages such as UML.
• Knowledge of software technologies, architectures, design principles and testing.
• Experience with development lifecycles and toolsets.

Responsibilities

• Engage with stakeholders to define requirements for new systems and software designs.
• Perform architectural design of software systems.
• Conduct cost and functional performance trade-offs and evaluate proposed solutions.
• Enhance capabilities and performance of in-service systems.
• Design and integrate new functionality into existing systems and with external software systems.
• Design and conduct testing and trials to prove equipment function and performance.
• Lead technical activities and initiatives; mentor other engineers.
• Create and deliver technical reports and proposals to customers and industry partners.
