Job summary

South West Recruitment Ltd. is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector for a precision engineering/aerospace-focused role in Poole.

The position involves first-off, in-process and final inspections of high‑quality components to ensure they meet dimensional and quality specifications. You will perform FAIRs, manage non-conformances, and maintain inspection records using Net-Inspect within a quality-controlled workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical inspection within precision engineering or aerospace manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of dimensional inspection and tolerances.
• Experience with FAIR documentation and non-conformance procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail in a quality-controlled workshop.

Responsibilities

• Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision-engineered components.
• Perform dimensional and visual inspections against drawings and specifications.
• Complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
• Inspect components at goods inward, pre-treatment and final despatch stages.
• Identify and report non-conforming products and raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
• Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
• Use customer inspection systems (Net-Inspect) and prepare Certificates of Conformity.
• Support RCCA and 8D investigations and liaise with production teams.
