Job summary

First Base Employment is recruiting a Mechanical Inspector for an established precision engineering environment in Poole, Dorset. The role involves carrying out detailed dimensional and visual inspections to ensure components meet engineering drawings, specifications and quality standards.

You will also raise NCRs, complete FAIRs, and prepare certificates of conformity while supporting root cause and corrective action discussions.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical inspection or quality inspection.
• Experience in an engineering or aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Understanding of dimensional and visual inspection techniques.
• Knowledge of FAIRs and non-conformance procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Carry out dimensional and visual inspections throughout the manufacturing process.
• Complete first-off, FAIR, final and goods-in/goods-out inspections.
• Ensure components meet engineering drawings and customer specifications.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Inspector or Mechanical Inspector with a background in precision engineering, aerospace or manufacturing. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out detailed dimensional and visual inspections, ensuring components meet engineering drawings, specifications and required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities of a Mechanical Inspector:

• Carrying out dimensional and visual inspections throughout the manufacturing process.
• Completing first-off, FAIR, final and goods-in/goods-out inspections.
• Ensuring components meet engineering drawings and customer specifications.
• Raising non-conformance reports (NCRs) and ensuring defective products are correctly identified and contained.
• Completing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
• Preparing and approving certificates of conformity.
• Supporting root cause and corrective action meetings.

Key Skills of a Mechanical Inspector:

• Previous experience in a mechanical inspection or quality inspection position.
