ALTEN, a global engineering and technology consultancy, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for its Loughborough team to support aerospace projects. You will design mechanical components, build robust CAD models, and produce detailed documentation from concept to production, collaborating with development and manufacturing teams to ensure manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Aerospace industry experience is mandatory.
• SolidWorks used in a professional environment.
• Strong mechanical design and CAD modelling skills.
• Experience producing detailed drawings and documentation.
• Understanding of DFMs and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to work within cross-functional engineering teams.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Create detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Support product development from concept through prototyping and production.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure manufacturability of designs.
• Participate in design reviews and implement improvements.
• Support prototype build, assembly and validation activities.
• Manage design changes and maintain engineering records.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues and meet objectives.
