Job summary

Safran Seats – Cwmbran (South Wales) is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design activities from concept to production at our Cwmbran site. You will own whole systems or modules, ensuring compliance with company standards, airframer requirements, regulatory and customer needs.

The role requires experience with CATIA V5 and PLM, strong problem‑solving and communication, and a focus on delivering high-quality mechanical design solutions for aerospace components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with CATIA V5 and PLM systems.
• Understanding tolerances and OEM installation requirements.
• Ability to read mechanical design drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design and detail modelling of a variety of mechanical components to meet programme requirements.
• Produce designs to meet cost/weight targets.
• Communicate with customers and suppliers.
• Participate in Design Reviews through New Product Introduction process.
• Select materials and processes for each design element.
• Ensure design integration within the product.
• Check engineering packages.
• Support product validation via prototyping/testing/DFMEA.
• Follow Best Practice guidelines.
