Job summary

TeamJobs in Yeovil is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading aerospace engineering organisation. You will design and develop advanced mechanical systems, produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings, create and maintain drawing packs, and drive tolerance analysis to ensure manufacturability.

The role sits within a collaborative engineering environment, supporting production engineering and planning to meet project milestones.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in mechanical design.
• Experience using 3D CAD, preferably Siemens NX.
• Competent in both 2D and 3D CAD.
• Basic understanding of Configuration Control.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Understanding of machining, manufacturing techniques, and design for manufacture principles.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills with a customer-focused and results-driven approach.
• Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, multi-project engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop concept designs supported by engineering analysis.
• Produce detailed mechanical designs using 2D and 3D CAD.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, drawing packs, and supporting documentation.
• Carry out tolerance analysis and process engineering changes.
• Liaise with Production Engineering and Production Planning to ensure designs are optimised for manufacture.
• Deliver engineering projects in line with agreed schedules and project milestones.
• Work in accordance with engineering procedures, standards, and best practices.
