Job summary

Airbus S.A.S. invites applications for its Engineering Degree Apprenticeship at Filton. The program spans four years and combines a full degree with vocational training, leading to a BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering and diplomas in Aeronautical Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.

You will rotate across wings, landing gear, fuel and flight-physics teams, gaining broad technical expertise and leadership skills while earning a regular salary of £23,245 for 35 hours per week.

Qualifications

• 112 UCAS points or above; 3 A Levels BBC or above including Maths B and Physics or Chemistry C.
• BTEC Extended Diploma: Aeronautical, Advanced Manufacturing in Eng., or related fields - minimum DMM or D.
• T Levels - Merit overall in Engineering & Manufacturing ( Maths Level 3 preferred).
• GCSE Maths and English (Language and Literature) - minimum grade 5/B.

Responsibilities

• Complete the Engineering Degree Apprenticeship with full degree and vocational training.
• Join Airbus at Filton and work on Commercial Aircraft Programmes across rotating departments.
• Develop broad engineering and project management skills through placements with Chief Engineers and other teams.

Job description

As an Apprentice Engineer the type of placements you will undertake may include:

• Architecture and Integration;
• Design (for Wing structures and/or systems installation);
• Simulation;
• Analysis (Static Stress and Fatigue & Damage Tolerance);
• Systems Installation Safety Analysis;
• Research and Technology;
• Certification;
• Ground and Flight Test;
• In Service Support;
• Digital (e.g. coding, AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Optimization, Methods and tools);
• Materials, Processes and Test;
• Wing Structures Repairs.

You will also develop the following:

• Project Management through placements in Chief Engineers or other departments;
• Business and Financial knowledge;
• Leadership Skills through working on projects with a broad range of people.

In order to be eligible to this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:

• 112 UCAS points or above: 3 A Levels BBC or above which must include Maths at B or above AND Physics or Chemistry at C or above, with a further A-level/AS-Level/BTEC Diploma;
• OR BTEC Extended Diploma: Aeronautical Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing in Engineering, Construction and the Built Environment, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Land-based Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Operations and Maintenance Engineering - minimum grade DMM or D (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering);
• OR T Levels - Minimum of Merit overall in Engineering and Manufacturing, additional qualification in Maths at Level 3 preferable but not essential;
• AND GCSE Maths and English (Language and Literature) - Minimum of Grade 5/B., Natural curiosity and excitement to explore and to work in a dynamic and changing environment;
• Ability to manage problems and communicate effectively to resolve them in a fast paced environment;

Our Engineering Degree Apprenticeship offers a full degree with no fees, plus vocational training with a regular salary. Airbus is leading the way with this unique 4 year programme through which you will achieve a BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering, Level 2 Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering & Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, and work towards a professional IEng level award.
