Job summary

Airbus S.A.S. invites applications for its Engineering Degree Apprenticeship at Filton.

You will study Electromechanical Engineering while contributing to the Commercial Aircraft Programme, gaining hands-on experience across mechanical, electronic and electrical systems with a paid, structured program. The four-year scheme leads to a BEng (Hons) in Electromechanical Engineering and multiple diplomas, including development towards IEng.

Qualifications

• Minimum 112 UCAS points with BBC and Maths B, Physics/C at C or above.
• Alternatively, BTEC Extended Diploma in relevant engineering fields with DMM or D.
• T Levels with Merit in Engineering and Manufacturing.
• GCSE Maths and English at grade 5/B or higher.
• Strong problem-solving and communication in a fast-paced environment.
• Interest in aerospace and sustainable aircraft development.

Responsibilities

• Nine-month vocational foundation diploma.
• Join engineers at Filton and work on Commercial Aircraft Programmes.
• Rotate across departments such as Flight Physics, Landing Gear, Fuel & Inerting.
• Pursue a full degree with paid vocational training.
• Develop a broad skill set through on-the-job experience and academic study.

Job description

As an Apprentice Engineer the type of placements you will undertake may include:

• Aircraft Architecture and Integration;
• Design;
• Simulation;
• Stress and Fatigue;
• Systems Installation Safety Analysis;
• Research and Technology;
• Certification;
• Ground and Flight Test;
• In Service Support;
• Digital (e.g. coding, AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics).

You will also develop the following:

• Project Management through placements in Chief Engineers or other departments;
• Business and Financial knowledge;
• Leadership Skills through working on projects with a broad range of people.

In order to be eligible to this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:

• 112 UCAS points or above: 3 A Levels BBC or above which must include Maths at B or above AND Physics or Chemistry at C or above, with a further A-level/AS-Level/BTEC Diploma;
• OR BTEC Extended Diploma: Aeronautical Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing in Engineering, Construction and the Built Environment, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Land-based Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Operations and Maintenance Engineering - minimum grade DMM or D (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering);
• OR T Levels - Minimum of Merit overall in Engineering and Manufacturing, additional qualification in Maths at Level 3 preferable but not essential;
• AND GCSE Maths and English (Language and Literature) - Minimum of Grade 5/B., Natural curiosity and excitement to explore and to work in a dynamic and changing environment;
• Ability to manage problems and communicate effectively to resolve them in a fast paced environment;
