Job summary

Airbus offers an Engineering Degree Apprenticeship in Filton for a four-year programme combining paid work with full degree study, leading to BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering and related diplomas. Placements span wings, design, simulation, testing, and digital disciplines, with rotations across engineering departments.

You’ll gain practical engineering experience while working toward professional IEng status, in a supportive, diverse environment.

Qualifications

  • 112 UCAS points or above with 3 A Levels BBC including Maths B and Physics or Chemistry C or higher
  • BTEC Extended Diploma in Aeronautical/Advanced Manufacturing or related fields - minimum DMM or D in Advanced Manufacturing
  • T Levels – Merit overall; Maths Level 3 preferred but not essential
  • GCSE Maths and English – Grade 5/B minimum

Responsibilities

  • Architectural and Integration placements in wing structures or systems installation
  • Design work for Wing structures and systems installation
  • Simulation and Analysis (Static Stress and Fatigue)
  • Systems Installation Safety Analysis and Ground/Flight Test
  • Digital projects including coding, AI, data analytics and optimization
  • Rotations across engineering departments to build broad experience

Education

UCAS points ≥112 + 3 A Levels BBC with Maths B & Physics or Chemistry C
BTEC Extended Diploma in relevant engineering
T Levels – Merit overall in Engineering/Manufacturing
GCSE Maths and English (Language and Literature) – Grade 5/B

What you will be doing

Our Engineering Degree Apprenticeship offers a full degree with no fees, plus vocational training with a regular salary. Airbus is leading the way with this unique 4 year programme through which you will achieve a BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering, Level 2 Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering & Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, and work towards a professional IEng level award.

As an Apprentice Engineer the type of placements you will undertake may include:

  • Architecture and Integration
  • Design (for Wing structures and/or systems installation)
  • Simulation
  • Analysis (Static Stress and Fatigue & Damage Tolerance)
  • Systems Installation Safety Analysis
  • Research and Technology
  • Certification
  • Ground and Flight Test
  • In Service Support
  • Digital (e.g. coding, AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Optimization, Methods and tools)
  • Materials, Processes and Test
  • Wing Structures Repairs

You will also develop the following:

  • Project Management through placements in Chief Engineers or other departments
  • Business and Financial knowledge
  • Leadership Skills through working on projects with a broad range of people
Requirements

In order to be eligible to this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:

  • 112 UCAS points or above: 3 A Levels BBC or above which must include Maths at B or above AND Physics or Chemistry at C or above, with a further A-level/AS-Level/BTEC Diploma
  • OR BTEC Extended Diploma: Aeronautical Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing in Engineering, Construction and the Built Environment, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Land-based Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Operations and Maintenance Engineering - minimum grade DMM or D (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering)
  • OR T Levels – Minimum of Merit overall in Engineering and Manufacturing, additional qualification in Maths at Level 3 preferable but not essential
  • AND GCSE Maths and English (Language and Literature) – Minimum of Grade 5/B

Important Information

GRADES: If you are on predicted grades, your offer will be conditional to achieving the position’s requirements before the apprenticeship start date.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
