Job summary

Airbus Operations Limited is offering an Engineering Degree Apprenticeship in Filton, Bristol. This four-year programme combines a no-fee degree with vocational training and regular salary, culminating in a BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering and related diplomas, with rotations across departments.

You will gain hands-on experience in multiple disciplines, from wing structures to ground tests, while developing project and leadership skills in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • 112 UCAS points or above with Maths at B or above and Physics/Chemistry at C or above.
  • BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering with minimum DMM or D.
  • T Levels – Merit overall in Engineering and Manufacturing required.
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade 5 or above.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a four-year degree apprenticeship with placements across engineering domains.
  • Develop aerospace engineering skills through on-the-job work and academic study.
  • Contribute to Wing Structures, Landing Gear, Fuel & Inerting, and Flight Physics projects.

What you will be doing

Our Engineering Degree Apprenticeship offers a full degree with no fees, plus vocational training with a regular salary. Airbus is leading the way with this unique 4 year programme through which you will achieve a BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering, Level 2 Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering & Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, and work towards a professional IEng level award.

As an Apprentice Engineer the type of placements you will undertake may include:

  • Architecture and Integration
  • Design (for Wing structures and/or systems installation)
  • Simulation
  • Analysis (Static Stress and Fatigue & Damage Tolerance)
  • Systems Installation Safety Analysis
  • Research and Technology
  • Certification
  • Ground and Flight Test
  • In Service Support
  • Digital (e.g. coding, AI, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Optimization, Methods and tools)
  • Materials, Processes and Test
  • Wing Structures Repairs

You will also develop the following:

  • Project Management through placements in Chief Engineers or other departments
  • Business and Financial knowledge
  • Leadership Skills through working on projects with a broad range of people
Requirements

In order to be eligible to this apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of:

  • 112 UCAS points or above: 3 A Levels BBC or above which must include Maths at B or above AND Physics or Chemistry at C or above, with a further A-level/AS-Level/BTEC Diploma
  • BTEC Extended Diploma: Aeronautical Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing in Engineering, Construction and the Built Environment, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Land-based Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Operations and Maintenance Engineering - minimum grade DMM or D (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering)
  • T Levels – Minimum of Merit overall in Engineering and Manufacturing, additional qualification in Maths at Level 3 preferable but not essential
  • AND GCSE Maths and English (Language and Literature) – Minimum of Grade 5/B

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Submit your CV stating your grades and if they are predicted or achieved
  • Submit a Cover Letter highlighting your passion and suitability for this apprenticeship
  • Natural curiosity and excitement to explore and to work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Ability to manage problems and communicate effectively to resolve them in a fast paced environment
  • Passion about Aerospace and shaping the sustainable future of the civil aircraft market
Important Information

GRADES: If you are on predicted grades, your offer will be conditional to achieving the position’s requirements before the apprenticeship start date.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.

RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK: Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work in the United Kingdom for the full duration of the programme. For more information, please check the Government Website.

LEVY FUNDING: Successful candidates must be eligible for the levy funding. Our apprenticeship roles do not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas & Immigration to enable sponsorship of migrant workers.
