Job summary

A leading company in aerospace manufacturing seeks an Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer for a 12-month contract in Cheltenham. The role involves generating work instructions, supporting production lines, and leading process improvements. Ideal candidates will have an electrical engineering background and experience in harness manufacture. This position offers a competitive rate of up to £50/hour.

Job description

Role: Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Cheltenham

Duration: 12 months

Rate: up to £50/hour (Umbrella only)

Inside IR35

Products: Electro Mechanical - power distribution systems

Key Responsibilities
  1. Providing support to shop floor by generating work instructions/SOPs in the form of build manuals or routings.
  2. Reacting to shop floor queries and build issues and providing technical support (ANDON).
  3. Developing and introducing tooling/formboards for manufacturing new designs of wiring harnesses.
  4. Running process improvement activities to reduce waste through the build process of electrical power management panels.
  5. Leading root cause corrective action investigations.
  6. Supporting NPI/development projects in the introduction of new designs.
  7. Performing FAI/verification on manufactured assemblies.
Key Experience Required
  1. Electrical engineering/manufacturing background.
  2. Experience in harness manufacture.
  3. Awareness and practice of IPC620 standards.
  4. Experience with electromechanical assemblies such as contractors, relays, wiring, power distribution.
  5. Support for manufacturing/production lines.
  6. Creation and maintenance of SOPs, build manuals, routings, etc.
  7. Experience with formboards.
Desirable Skills
  1. Shop floor layout design.
  2. Lean Six Sigma certification.
  3. Problem solving skills.
  4. Knowledge of manufacturing readiness levels (MRLs) and production readiness levels (PRLs).
  5. Design for manufacture principles.
  6. PFMEAs.
  7. Problem solving & RCCA techniques.
  8. Configuration management.
