Senior Quality Engineer – Production
Permanent – Days – Gloucester – Full-time

A leading manufacturer at the forefront of high-precision engineering and advanced technology solutions is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer – Production to join their growing team in Gloucester. This is an excellent opportunity to play a central role in driving quality performance across all production operations within a highly regulated, world-class environment.

The Role:

As Senior Quality Engineer – Production, you’ll take ownership of quality across production value streams, managing quality performance, leading continuous improvement activities, and ensuring full compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry standards. You will lead and mentor a small team of Quality Engineers, support the Business Management System, and work closely with cross-functional teams to implement robust quality tools and process controls.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead daily quality activities across production value streams.
2. Develop and mentor the Production Quality team to enhance capability and performance.
3. Implement and standardize core quality tools and processes including APQP, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
4. Monitor process performance data, driving improvements through SPC, root cause analysis, and problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, and PPS.
5. Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to improve product quality and production scrap performance.
6. Oversee responses to customer concerns and internal scrap via MRB processes.
7. Support supplier quality issue resolution and manage internal and external audits.
8. Lead the Quality function’s input on new product and process introductions.
9. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and quality improvement planning.
10. Maintain compliance with AS9100 Rev D and other applicable standards.

Person:

1. Proven experience in a Quality Engineering role within a complex, highly regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., aerospace or automotive), working to AS9100 Rev D standards.
2. Deep understanding of quality tools and methodologies: APQP, PPAP, PSW, FAIR, ISIR, SPC, and Control Plans.
3. Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings including GD&T.
4. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
6. Leadership experience with a focus on coaching and developing others.
7. Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Desirable:

1. AS9100-trained or Lead Auditor certification.
2. Experience with Lean tools (e.g., 5S, SMED, Single Piece Flow, Jidoka).
3. Familiarity with CMM technology and project management software.
