Manufacturing Engineer - Test Lineside

Shift Options: 42 Hr Overlay (Premium: 47%), 37 Hr 2-Shift (Premium: 9%)

Location: Derby

Provide technical support to operations and execute Manufacturing Engineering activities to develop, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing processes and methods. These processes must meet business and customer requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate, and lead time (SQCD).

Key Accountabilities
  1. HSE: Ensure manufacturing processes comply with Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and support the Zero Harm programme.
  2. Product Safety: Ensure processes achieve and sustain design intent, and that products conform to specifications. Investigate and resolve safety issues.
  3. Quality: Promote a culture of zero defects, working across functions to reduce risk and ensure First Time Right products.
  4. Compliance: Adhere to company policies, legislative, and technical standards including RRMS, SABRe, Export Control, and Intellectual Property.
  5. Technical Authority: Apply manufacturing process controls; act as signatory where applicable.
  6. Requirements & Planning: Identify opportunities for process and digital system improvements; manage activities, schedules, resources, and costs.
  7. Capability Development: Develop and improve manufacturing processes and digital systems, capturing data to demonstrate capability.
  8. Standards & Best Practices: Drive processes towards best practice standards in collaboration with relevant teams.
  9. Knowledge Sharing & Collaboration: Work with teams to understand and document manufacturing processes; share lessons learned and best practices.
  10. Talent Development: Engage in self-development, expand knowledge, and support coaching of others.
  11. External Relationships: Build beneficial relationships with partners and suppliers.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g., UK HND/foundation degree or equivalent)
  • Recognised engineering accreditation (e.g., UK IEng or CEng) if available
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to the role
  • Awareness of Manufacturing Systems and relevant software tools
