Job summary

Kingston Barnes Ltd is seeking an Aerospace Mechanical Assembly Technician in Bristol. The role focuses on precision assembly, fitting and inspection within an aerospace-driven engineering environment.

You will work to drawings, use precision tools, and contribute to quality documentation in a team setting. Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with aerospace assembly, measuring equipment, and a mechanical apprenticeship or qualification.

Qualifications

• Mechanical assembly or fitting experience required.
• Familiar with engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Experience using measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
• Aerospace environment experience preferred but not essential.
• Mechanical qualification and/or apprenticeship is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Complete aerospace assembly and fitting operations in accordance with drawings and approved processes.
• Fit, assemble and finish components using hand tools, measuring equipment and fixtures.
• Perform ancillary processes such as part marking, serration, varnishing and deburring.
• Inspect own work using precision measurement tools to verify conformity.
• Maintain traceability and complete production, inspection and quality documentation.
• Identify and report non-conforming parts or discrepancies in drawings/instructions.
• Maintain clean, safe working environment and follow TPM, Health & Safety procedures.
• Communicate effectively and work as part of a team with colleagues and management.
• Be willing to learn and teach others per Competence Management procedures.
• Assist colleagues to maximise production output while upholding quality standards.
• Possibility of working alternate shifts/hours as required.
• Carry out other duties or projects as directed by management.

The Role:

• Complete aerospace assembly and fitting operations in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, specifications and approved processes.
• Fit, assemble and finish components using appropriate hand tools, measuring equipment, fixtures and assembly aids.
• Accurately perform ancillary processes including, but not limited to, part marking, serration, varnishing and deburring.
• Inspect own work and correctly use precision measurement equipment to verify conformity to specification.
• Maintain full traceability and accurately complete production, inspection and quality documentation, both physical and digital.
• Identify and report non-conforming parts, assembly issues or discrepancies in drawings and instructions through the appropriate company process.
• Maintain a clean and controlled working environment, following FOD prevention and good housekeeping requirements.
• Perform routine maintenance in accordance with company TPM procedures.
• Comply with company procedures and policies, including Health and Safety and quality requirements.
• Communicate effectively and work as part of a team with colleagues and management, demonstrating company values.
• Be willing to learn and to teach others in accordance with company Competence Management procedures.
• Assist colleagues to ensure maximum production output while maintaining required quality standards.
• You may be required to work alternative shifts / hours.
• You may be required to perform any other reasonable duties or specific projects from time to time as directed by management.

The Candidate:

• Mechanical assembly or fitting experience
• Familiar with engineering drawings
