Orion Electrotech is seeking a Mechanical Fitter in Swindon to join a growing engineering and manufacturing business. This hands-on role covers assembling, integrating and testing complex mechanical and electrical systems while adhering to strict engineering and safety standards.

You will work in a regulated environment, performing precision assembly and testing, with opportunities for training and career development. The role is permanent, full-time, and located on-site in Swindon.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical assembly and integration in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical assembly and integration of complex systems.

The role of a Mechanical Fitter will include:

• Mechanical assembly and integration of complex systems and sub-assemblies
• Precision drilling, fastening and structural assembly work
• Carrying out inspections of composite, metallic and hybrid structures
• Mechanical rigging, alignment and adjustment activities
• Installation, wiring and testing of electrical and avionics systems
• Supporting integration of communication, navigation and power distribution systems
• Conducting functional testing and fault-finding activities
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate test equipment
• Completing build documentation, certification records and component traceability paperwork
• Working in line with quality procedures, engineering standards and health and safety requirements
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship and attention to detail

The ideal Mechanical Fitter should have the following skills and experience:

• Proven hands-on experience within mechanical assembly, integration, fitting or precision manufacturing environments
• Experience of bracketry installation, harnessing, drilling and fastening techniques
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
• Experience working within a regulated manufacturing or engineering environment
• Self-motivated and adaptable approach to work

Desirable:

• Experience working with aerospace, defence or other high-precision engineering products
• Familiarity with electronic diagnostics equipment
• Soldering or board-level repair experience
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality standards
• Understanding of safety-critical engineering environments
