Job summary

GKN Aerospace Global Technology Centre in Bristol is offering year-in-industry placements for engineering students. You will work on Real projects in AM for engines and space applications, gaining hands-on experience under industry experts.

The role emphasizes learning, collaboration, and contributing to cutting-edge aerospace technology. You’ll join a supportive intern community, with start dates around August/September 2027 and a 12-month placement.

Qualifications

• Currently studying an undergraduate degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Materials Science.
• Enthusiasm for additive manufacturing with an interest in aerospace or space science.
• Experience with CAD packages (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, Fusion 360, SolidWorks).

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering and material science knowledge to research activities.
• Design products and test specimens, prepare AM build files, run simulations, support manufacturing.
• Lab work using optical and scanning electron microscopy to assess material quality.
• Develop software tools for data analysis and assist in factory design considerations.
• Collaborate with UK and European teams on additive manufacturing projects.
