Job summary

Williams F1 Team seeks an Aerodynamic AI Engineer to bridge aerodynamic engineering and AI, developing ML models, surrogate models, and automated geometry tools to give the team a competitive edge in vehicle development.

You will collaborate with aerodynamicists and CFD engineers, translating complex requirements into practical AI solutions and communicating findings clearly in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing and deploying AI/ML models for scientific or engineering applications.
• Strong proficiency in Python with the PyTorch framework.
• Understanding of computational geometry principles and mesh generation.
• Experience with statistical analysis and anomaly detection for large scientific datasets.
• Strong software engineering practices including CI/CD and code quality standards.
• Excellent communication skills across technical disciplines and engineering audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Master’s or PhD in a related scientific discipline (or equivalent practical experience).

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy AI models for CFD data analysis to support aerodynamic decisions.
• Build advanced surrogate models for aerodynamic predictions, focusing on fluid dynamics.
• Develop AI-driven mesh generation and automated geometry tools for aero applications.
• Analyze wind tunnel data for drift, anomalies, and statistical quality.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines for AI model deployment with high code quality.
• Collaborate with aerodynamicists and CFD engineers to translate requirements into AI solutions.
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies relevant to CFD and aerodynamics.
• Identify AI-driven opportunities to improve development efficiency within cost constraints.
