Job summary

JustOT is seeking an Advanced Occupational Therapy Practitioner in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. The role leads OT services for CYPMHS and Adult Services, driving evidence-based, person-centred care, assessments and interventions to promote recovery and independence. You will supervise staff, contribute to service development and work within RCOT/HCPC guidelines to ensure high standards.

Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy with full RCOT membership and active HCPC registration.
  • At least 3 years’ experience including 1 year in CAMHS Mental Health/PD services.
  • Proven ability to use psychometrics and risk assessment tools with service users.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Occupational Therapy Service using evidence-based, person-centred approaches.
  • Assess service users’ needs and develop, implement and evaluate individualised treatment plans.
  • Deliver individual and group occupational therapy interventions to promote recovery and independence.
  • Support service users to build confidence and essential life skills for greater independence.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, coordinated therapeutic support.
  • Oversee comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, care planning and outcome evaluation.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to staff and students.
  • Promote clinical excellence and ongoing professional development.

Advanced Occupational Therapy Practitioner

Location: Potters Bar/Hertfordshire

Hours: Full Time

Client Group: Children and Young People's Mental Health Services (CYPMHS) and Adult Services.

Our client has a vacancy in Potters Bar/Hertfordshire for an Advanced Occupational Therapy Practitioner, to take the lead in shaping and developing Occupational Therapy services that empower people to achieve greater independence and meaningful recovery. Leading Occupational Therapy provision across our Children and Young People's Mental Health Services (CYPMHS) and Adult Services.

Job Role – Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Occupational Therapy Service using evidence-based, person-centred approaches.
  • Assess service users’ needs and develop, implement and evaluate individualised treatment and intervention plans.
  • Deliver individual and group occupational therapy interventions to promote recovery, rehabilitation and independence.
  • Support service users to build confidence, develop essential life skills and achieve greater independence.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, coordinated therapeutic support.
  • Oversee comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, care planning and ongoing evaluation of outcomes.
  • Ensure Occupational Therapy services remain responsive to the changing needs of service users.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision and professional support to Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants and students.
  • Promote a culture of clinical excellence, continuous learning and professional development.
  • Contribute to achieving positive outcomes and improved quality of life for service users
Requirements
  • The post holder will hold a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy together with full Royal College of Occupational Therapist membership and active HCPC registration.
  • The role holder will require at least 3 years’ experience including at least 1 years’ experience of working within the specialised area i.e. CAMHS services Mental Health/PD services
  • Possess confidence and competence in assessing patients with a variety of psychometrics and risk assessment tools.
  • Be able to work therapeutically, engaging patients in developing insight and coping skills to manage their complex needs, both clinical and sensory based needs.
  • Have good communication skills, both written and oral and is able to pitch complex information to different audiences.
  • Have a sound, up to date awareness of legislation and its implications for the profession and working with the mentally disordered client group.
  • Able to proactively resolve problems and challenges within the service in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Be able to supervise and where appropriate line manage staff in the service.
  • Be able to operate within professional boundaries and in line with the RCOT / HCPC Code of Conduct at all times.
  • Annual salary of up to £45,000
