Job summary

Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Advanced Cardiac Physiologist - Echocardiographer to join the Cardiology Diagnostics team.

The post holder will work as an independent, accredited echocardiographer delivering routine, complex and specialist echocardiography across inpatients and outpatients, supporting safe diagnosis and patient management in the context of a 7-day diagnostic service.

Qualifications

• Independent, accredited echocardiographer capable of delivering routine, complex and specialist studies.
• Ability to work across inpatient and outpatient settings to support safe diagnosis.
• Willingness to participate in 7‑day diagnostic services and weekend working.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of standard and complex echocardiography studies, including ward-based scans.
• Produce accurate, timely clinical reports and escalate significant abnormalities.
• Support service delivery, supervise junior staff and contribute to governance and quality improvement.
