Job summary

NHS in Liverpool is seeking Advanced Clinical Practitioners for Primary Care Bank posts. Onsite in GP practices, roles are Monday–Friday 8:00–18:30 with flexible bank shifts across Sefton and Liverpool sites.

You will work autonomously with GP clinical supervision, focusing on safe decision‑making, governance and clinical discussions within established care systems.

Qualifications

• Registered with NMC or HCPC with no conditions.
• GP practice experience (2+ years preferred).
• Advanced clinical assessment and decision‑making skills.
• Level 7 in Clinical Examination and Diagnostics.
• MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice desirable; apply if close to completion.
• Non‑Medical Prescriber V300.

Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive health assessments for adults and children.
• Diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment for undifferentiated conditions.
• Conduct clinical examinations and interpret findings clinically and psychologically.
• Manage a high‑autonomy caseload within governance frameworks.
• Support safety, quality improvement and multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Maintain competence and contribute as a senior clinician.

Advanced Clinical Practitioner – Primary Care – Bank

Salary: £33.28 per hour

Department: Primary Care

Location: Primary Care 24 Hub in Sefton and GP practices in Liverpool & Sefton.

Shifts: Bank positions, operational hours Monday to Friday 8am - 6:30pm

Role Overview

Primary Care: Onsite in our GP practices

The Primary Care role is designed for ACPs who feel they are confident working autonomously in a GP practice setting. The post holder will have access to GP clinical supervision and clear escalation pathways, with support focused on safe decision‑making, governance and clinical case discussion. PC24 promotes a pragmatic and inclusive working environment, where clinicians are encouraged to seek advice when required and professional accountability is shared within established systems of care.

Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive health assessments for adults and paediatric patients, applying advanced clinical judgement and holistic care planning.
• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment and interventions for undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
• Perform clinical examinations and interpret findings from both physiological and psychological perspectives.
• Manage a clinical caseload with a high degree of autonomy, making safe and timely decisions within agreed governance frameworks.
• Contribute to a culture of patient safety, quality improvement and effective multidisciplinary working.
• Maintain professional competence and development in line with regulatory requirements, contributing positively as a senior clinician within the practice team.

Qualifications

• Current professional registration with the Nursing and midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) with no conditions or restrictions.
• Experience working in a GP practice setting (2+ years preferred).
• Advanced clinical assessment, examination and decision‑making skills.
• Level 7 Clinical Examination and Diagnostics qualification.
• Ability to practise autonomously and manage complex clinical presentations.
• MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (or working towards completion).
• Evidence of leadership, service improvement or teaching contributions.
• Full NMC Registration with no restrictions.
• MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice is desirable; candidate who are working towards this qualification or who have relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
• Non‑Medical Prescriber V300.
• Clinical Examination and Diagnostics Level 7.

Experience

• Experience of working autonomously.
• Experience of working in Primary Care GP practices.
