Job summary

Farleigh Hospice in the Mid Essex region seeks a Counsellor to join our Wellbeing Service, delivering compassionate, evidence-informed counselling to adult patients, family members and carers, before and after bereavement. You will handle a varied caseload in a supportive multidisciplinary environment, addressing anticipatory grief, bereavement, illness adjustment and the impact of loss on relationships.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Counselling (Level 4 or above).
• Registration or accreditation with BACP, UKCP or NCPS.
• Experience of providing counselling to adults.
• Knowledge of bereavement and anticipatory grief.
• Experience with complex emotional presentations.
• Understanding of family systems and impact of loss on relationships.
• Excellent communication, assessment and risk management skills.
• Commitment to collaborative working, reflective practice and service development.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate counselling to adult patients, families and bereaved people.
• Balance individual therapy with awareness of family systems.
• Contribute to assessment, formulation, counselling interventions, and outcome monitoring.
• Support service development and collaborative working across the hospice and health community.
• Maintain professional registration and adhere to safeguarding and ethics.
