Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council is seeking an Administrator/Note Taker to support the Child Protection team. The role is hybrid, combining office and home working, and involves arranging meetings, taking accurate minutes, and distributing documentation to support decision-making and service delivery.

You will need GCSEs/NVQ, or equivalent experience, strong note-taking and MS Office skills, and the ability to organise competing demands with deadlines. Interviews will be held on 8 October 2026.

Job description

How you'll make a difference

As an Administrator/Note Taker, you will provide vital support to our Child Protection team, helping to ensure the delivery of effective services for children, young people and families. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for arranging meetings, taking accurate minutes and notes at confidential and sensitive meetings, and distributing documentation in a timely manner to support decision-making and service delivery.

What you will be doing
  • It will be your responsibility to provide administrative support for statutory child protection meetings, ensuring all arrangement are organised effectively and in line with required processes.
  • You will attend meetings both virtually and in person at venues across South Gloucestershire, taking clear, accurate notes and producing high-quality records of discussions and decisions.
  • As required, you will accurately record information into the central computerised system and distribute minutes within statutory timescales.
  • Working within a shared mailbox and internal systems, you will monitor and prioritise incoming work, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate and processed in a timely manner.
What we need from you
  • We require you to hold either an NVQ Level 2 or 3 GCSEs, grade 4 or above, or an equivalent qualification, or be able to demonstrate relevant experience in office administration.
  • It is essential that you have the ability to take accurate notes and produce meeting minutes, presenting information clearly and professionally.
  • You will be confident using Microsoft Office applications to create and format documents and maintaining accurate records using computerised systems.
  • Working on your own initiative, you will be able to organise and prioritise your workload effectively, managing competing demands and meeting deadlines within a busy service.
What you need to know
  • This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office and at home.
  • You will be expected to travel to other locations across South Gloucestershire so you must have a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or have an alternative means of travel.
