Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Ward Clerk for the 22SS acute floor on a part-time basis. You will handle admin tasks, greet patients and visitors, and support nursing staff with documentation and communications.

The role emphasizes compassion, accuracy and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. Experience with public interaction, good IT and telephone skills are essential, along with willingness to undertake NVQ Level 2/3 in Business Administration and Maths/English

Qualifications

• Experience in admin/clerical tasks within a ward or hospital setting.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Welcoming and compassionate approach when assisting patients and visitors.
• Good IT and telephone skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Receive/welcome new patients onto the ward and check records for accuracy.
• Ensure identity bracelets are available for nursing staff.
• Compile sets of blank documentation for emergency patients.
• Greet visitors and relay queries to the Sister/Charge Nurse as needed.
• Answer phones and respond to questions or requests.
