Qualifications

• Experience dealing with the general public.
• Good IT skills and familiarity with patient administration systems.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced ward.
• Strong telephone skills and professional communication.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Receive/welcome patients onto the ward and check records.
• Ensure identity bracelets for nursing staff.
• Prepare blank documentation for emergency patients.
• Welcome visitors and direct queries to the Sister/Charge Nurse.
• Answer the telephone and respond to requests appropriately.
• Arrange services of allied healthcare professionals as requested by nursing staff.
• Make outpatient referrals as requested by nursing staff.
• Notify Pathology of urgent blood specimens when needed.
• Coordinate notes and x-rays from departments and arrange transport as required.
