You will help plan and deliver meaningful activities that support independence, wellbeing, recovery and daily living skills for the men in our care.The successful candidate will work 42 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm.About Cygnet CedarsCygnet Cedars is a 23-bed high dependency complex care service for men with learning disabilities, associated complex needs and behaviours that may challenge.The service accepts emergency referrals, with an experienced team who manage transitions quickly, safely and efficiently to ensure each individual’s move into the service is as smooth as possible.Cygnet Cedars also includes two step-down single occupancy flats, each with its own lounge, kitchen, en-suite bedroom and front door. These flats provide an important opportunity for individuals to develop daily living skills, independence, confidence and community integration as part of their care pathway.Your Day-to-Day as an Activity Co-ordinatorAs an Activity Co-ordinator at Cygnet Cedars, you will support and enhance the care of individuals at the service by working closely with the Occupational Therapist and wider interdisciplinary team.You will help plan, deliver and promote a wide range of therapeutic, recreational, social and wellbeing activities that are meaningful, safe and person-centred.Encouraging individuals to access and take part in a variety of activities, hobbies and therapeutic programmesSupporting people to maintain existing interests, hobbies and social connectionsAssisting the Occupational Therapist with the planning and implementation of therapy programmesHelping to source and prepare appropriate materials, resources and equipment for activitiesContributing creative ideas for activities, events and group sessionsFacilitating activities safely and in line with individual care plans, risk assessments and therapeutic goalsPromoting recovery, independence, social inclusion and community engagementSupporting individuals to build confidence, develop daily living skills and improve wellbeingWorking collaboratively with the wider clinical, care and support teamWe’re Looking for Someone Who HasWe are looking for an enthusiastic and academically strong candidate who can bring creativity, structure and compassion to the role.Experience and/or a genuine passion for working in healthcare, mental health, learning disability services or social careSome knowledge or understanding of Occupational TherapyA creative flair and the ability to plan engaging, meaningful activitiesThe confidence to work as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare teamStrong communication and organisation skillsA positive, patient and flexible approachAn interest in supporting people with complex needs and behaviours that may challengeAn awareness of recovery approaches, social inclusion and person-centred care, which is desirableThis role may suit someone with experience as an Activity Co-ordinator, Activities Coordinator, Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Mental Health Support Worker, Activities Worker or Social Care Worker.Why Join Cygnet?At Cygnet, your work as an Activity Co-ordinator will help create meaningful daily experiences for the people in our care.
