We are looking for a motivated and compassionate individual to join Garner Ward as an Activity Coordinator within our newly named Living Well Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in enhancing the quality of life of patients receiving care on our acute dementia ward. Working alongside an experienced and supportive multidisciplinary team, you will help create a therapeutic, stimulating, and meaningful environment where patients can continue to engage in activities that matter to them, maintain their independence, and feel valued as individuals., The Living Well Team aims to support patients to live as well as possible with dementia through meaningful, person-centred care. As an Activity Coordinator, you will work directly with patients to develop and deliver a range of activities and interventions that promote wellbeing, engagement, and independence. You will support patients to take part in meaningful activities tailored to their interests, abilities, and life experiences, helping to reduce isolation and promote positive experiences during their stay on Garner Ward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organise and deliver meaningful individual and group activities.
  • Support patients to maintain everyday living skills and independence where possible.
  • Promote social inclusion, engagement, and positive therapeutic interactions.
  • Provide holistic support that recognises each person's emotional, spiritual, cultural, and religious needs.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing, therapy, medical, and support staff to enhance patient wellbeing.
  • Contribute to creating a calm, welcoming, and dementia-friendly ward environment.
  • Encourage and support family involvement where appropriate. We're an NHS community and mental health provider trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation, and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and well-being of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK. Over 5,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff. We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 10 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great partner. Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increase the numbers of people who use out services.
