Job summary

Austin Rose is recruiting a Senior Accountant for a high-growth start-up in London. You will be ACA or ACCA qualified with practice experience, reviewing year-end statutory accounts under FRS 105/102 and handling corporation tax computations, with a focus on speed and accuracy.

You will manage high-volume queues, oversee bookkeeping and bank reconciliations in Xero, support MTD, and help develop internal processes as the business scales through hybrid office/remote work.

Responsibilities

Are you seeking a commercial, high-volume reviewing role where you can leverage your technical expertise in Xero, manage statutory compliance at pace, and directly influence process development within an expanding practice?

Operating on a fixed-fee, high-volume model, the practice provides ambitious founders with single-platform bookkeeping, statutory accounts, tax, and payroll services, and is forecast to scale significantly over the next three years.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Accountant you will:

• Review and sign off year-end statutory accounts prepared under FRS 105, FRS 102 Section 1A, and FRS 102 alongside related corporation tax computations.

• Manage independent technical review queues across PAYE, RTI submissions, VAT returns, CIS returns, and Self Assessment tax returns for business owners.

• Provide clear, constructive technical feedback to onshore and offshore preparation teams to drive first-time accuracy across high volume client portfolios.

• Oversee and review bookkeeping and bank reconciliations managed within Xero to ensure accuracy and compliance ahead of statutory filings.

• Prepare complex, non-standard accounts and tax returns while identifying out-of-scope work for additional commercial billing.

• Support clients with Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance and technical queries, escalating high-risk matters to the Accounting Manager.

• Contribute to the development of internal guidance, review checklists, and workflow tools to optimise process efficiency.
