Ambition Europe Limited in Loughton is seeking an experienced Accounts Senior to manage a varied client portfolio in the Business Services Group, delivering high-quality statutory accounts, VAT returns, bookkeeping and management accounts.

The role is ideally full-time, with some flexibility for part-time applicants; note that study support for ACA/ACCA is not provided, and candidates should be comfortable liaising with clients and senior stakeholders while supervising junior staff.

Competenze

• AAT qualified or QBE in a similar practice environment
• Proven experience with statutory accounts preparation, VAT, and management accounts
• Strong attention to detail with consistent high-quality work
• Well-organised with ability to manage competing deadlines
• Clear communicator liaising with clients, colleagues and senior stakeholders
• Proficient IT user with experience of practice management software

Our client is a well-established, independent firm of Chartered Accountants based in Loughton, with a strong reputation built over many decades. They work with a wide-ranging client base, including owner-managed businesses, entrepreneurial individuals, and UK subsidiaries of international groups, across a broad range of sectors.

They're now looking for an Accounts Senior to join their Business Services Group, where you'll manage a varied portfolio of clients and play a key part in delivering high-quality accountancy work from start to finish.

The role is ideally full-time, though the firm is open to discussing part-time arrangements for the right candidate.

Please note: This position does not include study support for ACA or ACCA qualifications.

What You'll Be Doing

• Preparing statutory accounts for a variety of entities, including limited companies, sole traders, partnerships, LLPs, charities, and group structures
• Preparing and reviewing VAT returns, bookkeeping assignments, and management accounts
• Managing your workload to meet agreed deadlines and budgets, ensuring all files are complete with minimal outstanding queries
• Clearing review points, posting adjustments, and producing well-presented, high-quality final files
• Supporting the outsourcing function, including job allocation, query resolution, and initial review of returned work
• Maintaining accurate time recording using CCH
• Supervising junior team members, supporting their development, and providing end-of-job feedback
• Keeping managers and partners updated on client issues as they arise
• Liaising with the Tax Department on any relevant queries
• Staying current with CPD requirements and identifying opportunities to add further value to clients

What We're Looking For

• Ideally, fully AAT qualified or qualified by experience (QBE) in a similar practice environment
• Demonstrable experience across statutory accounts preparation, VAT, and management accounts
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work consistently
• Well-organised, with the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively
• Clear and confident communicator, comfortable liaising with clients, colleagues, and senior stakeholders
• Competent IT user, with experience of accountancy or practice management software

Nice to Have

• A valid UK driving licence (occasional client site visits may arise, though this is not a regular requirement)
• Previous experience using CCH practice management software
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior members of a team
