We have a temporary opening in our Poole, UK office for a:

Accounts Payable Specialist

About the role

The AP Specialist is responsible for preparing and recording accounting entries in the Finance module of Sage, preparing monthly reconciliations, and participating in the Month-end closing activities. The role also includes supporting calculations of commissions, cash forecasts, and entering invoices in the AP module.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in monthly closing processes and support the team during bottlenecks.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations with supporting schedules.
• Prepare and interpret weekly cash flow statements.
• Manage relationships with third parties such as auditors and foreign payroll providers.
• Ensure intercompany accounts are balanced and coordinate reconciliations.
• Process specific categories of AP invoices in Sage.
• Maintain supplier master data and ensure invoice approval according to policies.
• Verify legal requirements on invoices (VAT, addresses).
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Save invoices electronically.

Qualifications and skills

• Advanced IT skills, especially in MS Excel.
• Strong accounting knowledge.
• European VAT knowledge.
• Fluent in English; French is a plus.
• Self-starter with good communication skills and ability to work independently.
