Job summary

Deverell Smith Recruitment Ltd is working with a well-established real estate group to appoint an Accounts Payable Manager in Stockport. You will lead a busy AP function, strengthen controls and drive improvements across a multi-entity portfolio.

Day to day you will manage a small AP team, ensure timely supplier payments, run month-end accruals and collaborate with property managers and the wider finance team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading an AP or purchase ledger team.
• Real estate, property management or multi-entity experience is a strong advantage.
• Confidence with high invoice volumes and tight deadlines.
• A hands-on, organised style, with a drive to improve how things are done.
• Strong systems and Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the AP team and own the full purchase-to-pay process across a diverse property portfolio.
• Oversee accurate and timely payment of suppliers and contractors, including property, service charge and capital project invoices.
• Run supplier statement reconciliations, payment runs and month-end accruals.
• Strengthen controls, approval workflows and compliance across multiple entities.
• Lead process improvements and optimize finance systems.
• Act as the go-to contact for suppliers, property managers and the wider finance team.

The role
