Job description

The Role

Our high-performing Finance team has an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Assistant to join us in Bristol.

The role will provide an efficient and customer-focused payables service, ensuring effective and accurate processing of invoices.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Process high volumes of supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
  • Match invoices with purchase orders and delivery notes
  • Ensure timely payment runs in line with agreed payment terms
  • Maintain and reconcile the Accounts Payable ledger
  • Handle queries from suppliers and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Support month-end closing activities, including accruals and reporting
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of supplier accounts
  • Liaise with the development team to ensure accurate coding of project-related invoices
  • Support year-end audit by providing requested documentation and reports
  • Continuously review and improve AP processes for efficiency
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to enable accurate processing of invoices and timely/accurate settlement. Escalate where necessary.
  • Follow Data Protection policies, keeping information confidential and secure, in line with legislative requirements.
  • Support with any audit queries as required.
  • Ensure all procedure documentation is maintained and up to date.
  • Provide management information to support business decisions
  • Clear the prepayment log to ensure nothing remains at month end
  • Work with stakeholders and budget holders to verify liabilities

What We’re Looking for in You

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Payable role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A passion for delivering excellent customer service
  • Ability to work at a fast pace with high accuracy
  • Comfortable managing priorities in a changing environment
  • Strong IT skills, including Excel
