Job summary

Clark Wood is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to join the Exeter team and manage a varied client portfolio including owner-managed businesses and SMEs. You will oversee statutory accounts, management accounts, VAT, bookkeeping and tax compliance, delivering high-quality accounting services with strong client liaison.

The role offers hybrid working, a competitive salary (£45,000-£60,000), and clear progression within a growing accountancy practice.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Experience managing a portfolio of clients.
• Strong knowledge of accounts preparation, management accounts and UK accounting standards.
• Experience working with owner-managed businesses and SMEs.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to build strong client relationships.
• Experience reviewing work and mentoring junior staff.
• ACA/ACCA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of clients including owner-managed businesses, SMEs and limited companies.
• Prepare and review statutory year-end accounts and financial statements.

• Prepare and review VAT returns, bookkeeping and self-assessment tax returns.

• Review work completed by Accounts Assistants and junior staff.

Clark Wood are currently recruiting for an experienced Accounts Manager to join a growing and ambitious firm of Chartered Accountants based in Exeter.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accounts Manager, Client Manager, Accounts Senior or Assistant Manager looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and expanding accountancy practice.

Working as part of an experienced accounts team, you will manage a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses (OMBs), SMEs and private clients, providing a full range of accounting services including statutory accounts, management accounts, VAT, bookkeeping and tax compliance.

The role offers excellent client exposure, genuine progression opportunities and the chance to work closely with business owners, providing valuable accounting advice and support.

As an Accounts Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and ensuring a high-quality accounting service is delivered.
