Job summary

Autograph Recruitment in Exeter is seeking an Accounts Senior to join a well‑established Exeter practice. You will support a varied client portfolio and play a key role in preparing statutory and management accounts, with a focus on accuracy and client service.

Ideal candidates are 2–3 years’ experience in practice, part‑qualified (ACA/ACCA/AAT) and actively studying, with strong knowledge of VAT and cloud software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and ideally CCH.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two to three years' experience in an accountancy practice.
• Part-qualified and actively studying towards ACA/ACCA/AAT.
• Experience preparing accounts and VAT returns.
• Good working knowledge of cloud accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and ideally CCH.

Responsibilities

• Preparing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
• Preparing management accounts where required.
• Completing bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
• Assisting with corporation tax and personal tax compliance.
• Supporting senior team members with year‑end accounts preparation.
• Managing day‑to‑day client queries and building professional relationships.
• Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and provide routine accounting support.

A well‑established and growing accountancy practice in Exeter is looking to recruit an Accounts Senior to join its friendly and collaborative team.

This opportunity would suit someone with a few years' experience within an accountancy practice who is part-qualified and actively studying (ACA/ACCA/AAT), looking to continue developing their technical skills and progress their career within a supportive environment.

Working alongside experienced accountants and managers, you will be responsible for supporting a varied portfolio of clients across a range of industries, preparing accounts, maintaining client relationships, and assisting with day‑to‑day compliance work.
