Job summary

Autograph Recruitment is assisting an established Exeter accountancy practice to recruit an Accounts Senior. You will join a friendly, office-based team and manage a varied portfolio, preparing statutory accounts, VAT returns and bookkeeping for clients across sectors.

The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years' experience, be part-qualified (ACA/ACCA/AAT) and actively studying, with strong client communication and attention to detail. Study support and clear progression opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two to three years' experience within an accountancy practice.
  • Be part-qualified and actively studying towards ACA, ACCA or AAT.
  • Experience preparing accounts and VAT returns.
  • Good working knowledge of cloud accounting software, including Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and ideally CCH.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Preparing management accounts where required.
  • Completing bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
  • Assisting with corporation tax and personal tax compliance.
  • Supporting senior team members with year-end accounts preparation.
  • Managing day-to-day client queries and building strong professional relationships.
  • Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and provide routine accounting support.

A well-established and growing accountancy practice in Exeter is looking to recruit an Accounts Senior to join its friendly and collaborative team.

This opportunity would suit someone with a few years' experience within an accountancy practice who is part-qualified and actively studying (ACA/ACCA/AAT), looking to continue developing their technical skills and progress their career within a supportive environment.

The Role

Working alongside experienced accountants and managers, you will be responsible for supporting a varied portfolio of clients across a range of industries, preparing accounts, maintaining client relationships, and assisting with day-to-day compliance work.

Key Responsibilities

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of two to three years' experience within an accountancy practice.
  • Be part-qualified and actively studying towards ACA, ACCA or AAT.
  • Experience preparing accounts and VAT returns.
  • Good working knowledge of cloud accounting software, including Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and ideally CCH.
  • Confidence communicating directly with clients and building professional relationships.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • A positive attitude and genuine ambition to progress within an accountancy practice.
