DOT Partners in Preston is recruiting an Accounts Assistant Manager to lead a portfolio of owner-managed businesses with a focus on advisory work and client relationships.

You will manage statutory accounts, tax computations, and management accounts while coaching junior staff and supporting cloud accounting adoption. The role offers progression toward Accounts Manager and a hybrid working pattern to balance client deadlines with development opportunities.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualification, strong QBE candidates will be considered.
• Several years' experience within a UK accountancy practice
• Strong statutory accounts and corporation tax experience
• Experience managing or taking significant responsibility for a client portfolio
• Confidence reviewing the work of junior accountants
• Strong client-facing and relationship-building skills
• Experience with Xero, QuickBooks or similar cloud accounting platforms
• Good commercial awareness
• The confidence to provide advice rather than simply process work
• Ambition to progress towards Accounts Manager level

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of owner-managed businesses
• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts under FRS 102 and FRS 105
• Reviewing corporation tax computations
• Producing and reviewing management accounts
• Acting as a key point of contact for clients
• Managing deadlines, workflow and WIP across portfolio
• Reviewing work prepared by Seniors and Trainees
• Coaching and developing junior members of the team
• Supporting clients with cloud accounting and improving finance processes
• Identifying opportunities to provide additional services
• Providing proactive commercial and accounting advice
• Working closely with Managers and Directors on more complex client matters
• Supporting the continued growth and development of the Accounts team
