Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our finance department. The successful candidate will assist with financial record keeping, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and supporting the wider finance team with various administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process purchase invoices and sales invoices accurately and promptly
  • Maintain and reconcile supplier and customer accounts
  • Prepare and process payments (e.g., BACS, cheques)
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and petty cash management
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables
  • Support month-end and year-end financial close procedures
  • Maintain and update financial spreadsheets and databases
  • File and organize financial documents for audit and compliance purposes
  • Liaise with suppliers, clients, and internal departments regarding finance-related queries
  • Assist with VAT returns, payroll support, and expense reporting as needed
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance team

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an accounts or finance support role (1-2 years preferred)
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Jonas Club system experience is desirable but not essential
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • AAT qualification or studying towards AAT/ACCA/CIMA (desirable but not essential)
