Job summary

Reed is recruiting an Accounts Assistant / Accounts Semi Senior for its Chelmsford office. The role offers hybrid working up to 2 days from home after probation and a competitive salary dependent on experience. You’ll handle a diverse client portfolio across accounting, VAT, and taxation with exposure to audits.

Ideal candidates will have accountancy practice experience and be studying towards or have completed AAT qualifications, with strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Qualifications

• Previous accountancy practice experience.
• AAT Level 3 qualification as a minimum.
• Currently studying towards or recently completed AAT Level 4.
• Knowledge of VAT, taxation, and accounts preparation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare year-end statutory and management accounts.
• Complete VAT returns and bookkeeping tasks.
• Prepare personal and business tax returns.
• Assist audit team with client audits and site visits.
• Liaise with clients to gather information and resolve queries.
• Use Xero and other accounting software to maintain records.
• Prepare working papers for senior review.
