Job summary

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service is seeking an Accounting Technician to support financial reporting, reconciliations, and capital budgeting monitoring. Reporting to the Revenue Accountant, the role offers a hybrid working arrangement and a clear development path within a public-sector environment.

You will contribute to year-end tasks, assist with audits, maintain the finance system, and prepare management information to support decision making across the service.

Qualifications

• AAT or equivalent qualification (or equivalent).
• Experience in a finance department, ideally within local government finance.
• Strong communication skills and adaptability to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Complete reconciliations (e.g., payroll, VAT, balance sheet, bank).
• Support with year-end accounts and audit processes.
• Develop knowledge of the finance system and ongoing maintenance.
• Support capital budgeting and report production.
